Idea 1: If there is a One Web Day event in a convention center in a city, ( apart from the events and celeberations online ) offer Display opportunities / Presentation Opportunities / Concurrent Sessions dubbed "Internet Future Showcase" where IT companies that have Internet as their product/service backbone may display their latest products / future protypes / futue concepts or present a show or conduct a Technolgoy Discussion or Showcase session for those who volunteer to attend. For instance if Java bids for an opportunity, it could showcase the java technologies. Such an opportunity may be priced in millions of US dollars, if it is exclusive to one company or priced in parts of a million dollars if the opportunity is divied among several companies. 3. There is an IRC channel available -- for 2007 for planning and chatting purposes.
How many members involved in the planning process ? If it is anything below a thousand members, the chances of finding the IRC Onewebday chat room with no chatters is likely most of the time, and once a chatter experiences an empty room, he would feel discouraged to return to the same room... A better idea is needed than a chat room... May be a forum topic with restricted entry. Or a collaborative webpage in the onewebday.org website. Or simply an email group. Or an instant messenger kind of arrangement where the members add one another mutually...
4. City leaders -- we need to build on the list of cities from last year and make it really easy for people to participate. If you'd like to lead a city effort, let people know here
I could take the lead for Chennai, India.
Happy to work with others in Chicago and Illinois (MichaelMaranda.net)
5. Visualization collaborations -- we'd like to find ways for people to be part of some online effort that is bigger than themselves or their city, and is beautiful. If you've got ideas about this, please tell everyone here
6. We've got OneWebDay stickers using the design from last year. However, we're considering have a design competition for a new Sticker Design. Go look at the current design and see what you think. I'll be posting more later about design parameters.
7. Come post your Moments of Awareness. They are those times when you discover once again the magic that is the Internet - it's ability to help us find new or old friends, reach out to an audience that wants to hear us, read about things we never would have known, find a group of like-minded people, or whatever way our powers of communication and creativity are expanded.
8. Look at the Brainstorms page - ideas that we may or may not ever use, but want to preserve for a pool of possibilities.
